Zepher found herself stifling a yawn of her own, though she hadn't had that much of a long day. Oh. Right. The mental pathway that allowed telepathy also opened up her empathy completely. She should have seen that coming. She also should have realized how tired Dahlia was, without having to be plugged into the other girl's emotions. Actually, it was a little embarrassing.
"I'll talk to you later, OK?" she said, sounding a little apologetic. "You look like you could use some sleep. I won't keep you up any longer."

Dahlia smiled gratefully and nodded slowly, her head weighted with sleep. "Okay. It was nice to meet you Zepher." And with that, she let her head fall onto the lumpy pillow that lay on the uncovered bed. The fact that the bed was not properly clothed was no matter. She could have slept on a bed of rocks at the moment.
And there she went. She was asleep before her head even hit the pillow. Before Zepher had probably even made it out of the room. She'd never been more exhausted in her life. Emotionally and physically. Three days without sleep had sapped the life out of her, and she wouldn't wake up until late afternoon the next day, even though it was only early evening when she went to bed.
Truthfully, she probably could have slept longer. But there were things to do! Things like shopping. And shopping can prove a powerful motivator for a girl. Even for a girl who's parents have died in the not so distant past, who's very recently been nearly kidnapped, who's killed those same two men who tried to kidnap her, who's driven three straight days to get to a safe haven, and who's shown off her powers even when she was about to collapse. You get the point. Shopping is a sort of therapy for many people. It certainly was for Dahlia.
