My intros! Safest place to keep them, because my home computer's not always reliable...

For off-site ATL roleplaying... If they wish, others may use this. Just put your own character's description in where I've got Zepher.
((Rules: Basic Semi-literacy rules apply. Please try to keep with the setting (although there's no set plot) and if you like it, check out afterthelab . proboards37 . com.))
As long as there had been the Labs, experiments had been escaping. Most faced life on the streets, being hunted down by men from the lab. A lucky few, though, found the House, by chance, or by design. It was an impressive place, three stories, Victorian, and apparently deserted. It wasn't deserted, though, far from it.(c)
Inside, there was a small group of escaped experiments, living together in varying degrees of normality. Some had been there for as much as five years, others for as little as a month, or a week. Some never left the House, confined by their inability to blend in, others went about near-normal lives. (c)
Zepher had been one of the first to come. She didn't talk about it much, but there was some speculation she'd been /the/ first.
At twenty two, she was normal enough in appearance. Softly curling diswater-blonde hair framed a face set with large, grey-blue eyes and a firm mouth. It also hid a large steel plate behind her left ear, the only real physical remnant of her time in a lab.(c)
The not-so-apparent effects? Well, for one thing, she'd gained the ability to read people's emotions, as if they were her own - advanced Empathy, the scientists had called it. Along with some telekinesis, it was the result of an unsuccesful attempt to produce Telepathy. The two powers varied in strenth; at the moment, both were about equal.(c)
Today, she was sitting in the living room, going through an old magazine. Her Old Navy sweatshirt had the sleeves pushed up to the elbos. She kept half an ear open for a knock at the door - one never knew when some new escapee would show up. It wasn't often someone did, but Zepher liked to be ready anyway. (Done. Residents of the house, new arrivals, and perhaps a "normal" neighbor are all welcome)

Modern Fantasy. Intro copyright Shannon Clay, aka lunar_music.
((Rules: I'm doing my best to wash my hands of the whole literate/semi-literate/illiterate issue, but an acutal ability to use the english language and a desire to roleplay well would be appreciated. I'd like it if you lot wait to post untill I'm done. Please give me a copy of your favorite book to join.))
Meliss stretched, poking her head out into the moonlight. It was good to be overhill again.
She glanced down at her hands, in the combined light of the street lamps and the gibbous moon, and muttered something that was definately not english and probably not fit for polite company under her breath. Her glamour wasn't sticking; probably too much Cold Iron in the area.(c)
Her fingers should have been wearing the semblence of stubby, pink human digits. Instead, they were long, nimble - at least four joints apeice - and faintly blue. Meliss sighed, assuming the concealment was coming off the rest of her, too. Which would mean that any human could see her, in all of her Fay glory. (c)
She pushed a lock of hair, a deep indigo that on a human would have meant either a failed black dye-job or an intentional blue one, behind one slender, pointed ear, and glanced around. It was late at night; that was good. She'd keep to the shadows, if she saw any humans who were lucid and/or observant enough to notice her.
Not that she expected there to be many. Humans were notoriously thick.(c)
Anyway, as Faeries went, Meliss wasn't exactly showy. She didn't glow, and she was all of four feet, three inches tall. Really, the fingers and the skin tone were what would give her away the most. And the wings, but even those wern't showy. No butterfly wings for Meliss; not even the long, strong dragonfly type. (c)
Her's were more along the lines of a beetle's, and, when folded, resembled an iridesent black backpack.
Meliss glanced at her clothing; her Court dress was no good here. She closed her eyes, and her gown shimmered, becoming a halter-top and a pair of pants you'd have to look closely at to realize they wern't actually leather. With a slight nodd to herself, she set off into the night.(done)
((So... rules. Semi-literate rules apply, of course; if you don't know what they are, ask. If you don't understand my answer, you're probably in the wrong place.
Also, this shall be set Underhill - in the Faery realm. Almost any magical being is ok, expecially if it has some basis in an actual myth or legend. Any human characters /must/ have a fey escort, preferably played by another person.(c))
((When in doubt, fall back on northern European fairy stories, and you shouldn't be too lost. Please ask to join! My posts shall be coming next; if you come in before I finish, you may post to announce your presence, but please hold off on questions or intros untill I am done.))
Back Underhill again. Meliss sighed.
She sealed the portal behind her, closing off the entrance to the human world, and stretched her wings. If there was one good thing about being underhill, it was that she didn't have to hide the less - human - aspects of her appearance. There were a lot of them, from her height - just under four feet - to her blue skin and hair, to, of course, the wings.(c)
Actually, they wern't showy, expecially by the standards of Meliss's fellow sprites. Many of them had large, bright butterfly wings, or the long, strong wings of dragonflies. Her's were more along the lines of a beetle's, filmy flight wings under a shiny blue-black carapice. They looked almost like a backpack when folded.(c)
Not that they were folded, now. Meliss spread her wings to the fullest extent, and launched herself into empty air.
Of course, there were stairs. Not many Faeries had wings, and most returned Underhill by way of Forts like this one, a cavernous room, with niches along the upper edges, set with gates into the human world. It was more or less the equivilant of a train station, and as crowded.(c)
The floor, which Meliss touched lightly down onto a moment later, was filled with all manner of fair folk - some of them not so fair. She nodded to a few friends, heading for the banquet table, set along one wall of the room.

((Ok... first off, this is cannon, by the books. It's set between SLATFALF and Mostly Harmless. You can play any original character you like, but remember: Arthur is not, and has never been, dating Trillion. Earth Mark Two was never finished; however, there are a number of Earth-like planets out there.
So... Have fun, please try to be semi-literate, and never forget your towel.))
((Oh, and madeups are also very welcome. Intro coming.))
The New, Clear Fusion bar on Polaris Three was one of the froodiest places in the universe.
At least, that's what the Guide said. Rida Uuuuula found it somewhat lacking. With a sigh, she checked the Guide again, this time looking for who had written the article. Of course, Ford Prefect. She should have guessed. Somehow, she doubted he'd so much as set foot in the place.(c)
She sighed, running a mostly-humanoid hand through a cloud of tawny hair, and leaned over her drink. She wondered if it was worth trying to write a new article on the place, or if it would be more effective just to write one warning hitchikers about Ford. Rida rather thought the second would be more succesful.
(c)
Rida and Ford went way back; he'd been the reason why she'd quit college - she'd been a journalism major - to start hitchiking. He'd gotten her a job as a writer for the Guide.
And then, he'd dissapeared for over ten years. She'd heard rumors he'd reappeared, and that he'd been involved in saving the Universe. (c)
There were even rumors he'd nearly found the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
And, like any thinking creature who knew Ford would, she didn't beleive a word of it. (done)

CLUNK-hsss. CLUNK-hsss.
She wasn't exactly stelthy. You wouldn't be, either, if most of the joints in the left side of your body had been replaced with machinery. Still, Melly's reflexes were as good as they'd been before the accident, or nearly as good, and a good bit stronger.
Maybe it would be better to back up a little, explain. Melly, or Metal Enhanced Lifeform 14, as her id read,(c)
(c) was twenty-three, human (or at least humanoid), and ship's mechanic. She had the kind of androgynous face that made one look twice, trying to figure out if she was a plain girl or a pretty boy. Light-brown hair, stick straight, just barely brushed her shoulders, and was covered by a shapeless, grey cap. Her right eye was a muddy brownish-green, and her left eye (c)
(c) was a steel-and-fiberglass construction that glowed faintly red.
Just above the elbo, her left arm was replaced with a lightweight mechanical version, ending in a three-fingered pincer-hand. Of course, realistic arms were avalible, but Melly liked the one she had. Easy to keep in good condition. Her left leg was still mostly flesh and bone, but heavily braced with (c)
(c) steel plates. The knee joint was also completely replaced; the leg of her baggy grey coverall was cut short to keep the cloth from becoming entangled in the mechanism. Again, she could have easily gotten an andro-limb, almost impossible to tell from the real thing, but Melly had learned from experiance that mechanical limbs were just as likely to be hurt as the traditional kind, so she(c)
(c)prefered to have ones that were easy to fix.
She'd signed on as ship's mechanic as soon as she'd heard of this mission; it was a great excuse to get off planet. Now, out in deep-space, Melly was beginning to remember why she'd moved planet-side in the first place. On a planet, at least, she was almost never bored.(done)

((Ok, so... basic knowlage of the english language would be good, hmm?
The twist is that each character has both an element (fire, water, earth and air) and an aspect (light, dark, order, and chaos). Each combo has different powers; you can see a chart at freewebs . com/ lunarsroleplay / elemental . htm. Please ask for a specific combination to join; I've got water-dark, all others are open.))
The world was full of stupid people. That was Naida Marino's view. People who would jaywalk on a busy street, and laugh as they were nearly run over by an SUV. People who drove the SUVs in the first place. And so on. Actually, she'd observed that earlier today, while standing at the corner waiting to the light to turn like any sane person would. It hadn't helped the cynical funk(c)
(c) she'd been falling into lately, that was for sure. Of course, many of the people who knew her would say she was always cynical - she wouldn't deny it, either. After all, with darkness as her aspect, wasn't a little biting wit her perogative? Where many water elements would tend to remind one of a mighty ocean or babbling brook, Naida was more along the lines of a slightly scummy mill pond.(c)
She was uninteresting physically, with a build on the pudgy side of solid and a little above avarage in height. Her hair was mouse-brown, with natural highlights of an even lighter brown that looked almost grey in the light filtering through the day's heavy cloudbanks, and stuck out at odd angles. Her eyes were a color not quite grey or blue, a color somehow exactly matched(c)
(c)by the shade of her jeans. Her hoodie sweatshirt was navy blue, and coming unstiched at the cuffs of the sleeves. It had been a long day, so she'd stopped by her house just long enough to drop off her school stuff, and continued down to the riverfront park. There wern't many people here today; it was a little chilly, and the clouds looked as if they might open up at any moment.(c)
(c)Naida didn't mind. She'd settled herself on the bank of the river, where the grass ran almost all the way down to the water, and kicked her shoes off. It was quiet down here - and wonderfully free of stupid people.(done)

((Rules- Have a little respect for the English language. It's never done anything to you.
Despies and Mary-Sues will be fed to the demon bunnies after a brief trial in a kangaroo court.
Setting- City, near future, early evening, late spring.))
They'd never caught Sophie.
If she had anything to do with it, they never would. She'd met some of those that the feds had identified, and seen the tattoos. It made her skin crawl just to think of it. Sophie had never liked needles of any variety; the idea of being branded like that was just too much to deal with. So, she resolved never to be caught.(c)
Actually, her power helped there. If she decided not to be seen, Sophie wouldn't be. It wasn't exactly invisibility, but people's eyes would slide off her. Unless they knew exactly where she was, most people wouldn't even realize anything was happening. As long as she didn't run into anyone, Sophie could go for days without being seen. (c)
When she was visible, Sophie looked absolutly normal. Some of the "gifted" might intentionally dress the part, but not her. She was on the pudgy side of solid, with a curly mess of brown hair and thick glasses. Her jeans were worn and the knees, and the cuffs of her blue hoodie were a little threadbare and stained. She wore no makeup - no point, when she spent her days trying not to be noticed.(c)
Tonight, Sophie was sitting just inside an alley, visible for once. She pulled an individually wrapped pastry from the front pocket of her sweatshirt, and tore off the wrapper. It hadn't been paid for, any more than the bottle of gatorade beside her had. Shoplifting was easy when people didn't see you, and her money had run out the week before.(done)
