(Note: I have yet to introduce Matt to the house, but say this moving in post comes after he actually introduces himself to someone. I just feel like making this post first.)
Matt made his way slowly up the stairs, panting as he reached the top of the third floor landing. Why did the boys' rooms have to be on the third floor? He could have moved into one of the girls' rooms easily enough, but that would have required him to keep a female form most of the time, and he didn't think he really felt like doing that. As it was, this was the only free room left, and he was somewhat glad for that. Sure, it meant that when someone else moved in he wouldn't be able to pick his roommate, but having the room to himself also meant that he could personalize as much as he wanted to.
As he dropped his duffel bag and opened the door, Matt decided that he had a lot of personalizing to do. The walls were covered in old, peeling Victorian wallpaper, and the bed had some nasty looking sheets on it. A quick scan revealed the rest of the room to be bare but for a pair of dressers, which was something else he would have to fix... When he felt like it. He'd come up with stuff to do for now, and then go into town and buy things for the room when he actually had the energy. For now, he set his duffel bag down on top of the bed, tossing his suitcase after it. Only one more thing to bring up... But it was still another three flights of stairs to go up and down. With a heavy sigh, Matt went back downstairs to retrieve Jasper and Celia, his two parakeets, and their birdcage.
It took him about five minutes just to make it from his room to the car and back, mostly because he stopped on the second floor to fix the birdcage, which had fallen open and was spilling seed out onto the floor. He scuffed the birdseed under the hall rug, then hurried upstairs before anyone could see what he was doing. When he got there, the first thing he did was set the birdcage up and open the curtains to let a little more light into the dreary room. After that, he busied himself with putting his clothes into the dresser, laying his own sheets on the bed (the mattress was fairly new, even if the sheets were almost moldy, so he wouldn't have to replace that), and taping his posters to the wall.
By the time he was done with that, Matt was a little tired. Not rightfully so, since he hadn't done much actual work, but he wanted a break anyway. With that in mind, he plugged his laptop into the wall and started playing Star Wars: Rogue Jedi. He could finish unpacking and messing around with the room later, after he'd gotten bored with his game.
