Christina had had to ask around a bit before finding out which room was Kat's, but had managed to extract the information from Deltar. Christina now stood before Kat's door, about a week after the meeting between the two feline splices, Adrian, and Gabriel in the living room. In the moments before knocking at the door, Christina played with hypothetical conversations in her mind, keeping in mind how she would need to act. As much as it repulsed her, the scientist now had to adopt an apologetic demeanor; she needed to be /sorry/ for all the horrible things she had said about Kat. Her expression as close to 'apologetic' as it was likely to ever be, Christina knocked on Kat's door, still mentally practicing what she was going to say. She had a feeling this would be even more difficult than her talk with Adrian several days earlier; she and Kat had gotten off to a much rockier start. Which is why she'd waited so long to visit the tiger experiment; to give her time to 'cool off' after their latest encounter.

"Whhaaaaaaat?"
Kat was busy with her dolls. Who could be at the door at a time like this? Sheila was completely naked, and her date, Brad, was waiting for her at the doll's imaginary door. What outfit would she wear? Would Brad like her? Would he ask her to marry him, and they could live happily ever after with a houseful of kids and pets?
She dropped the barbie-sized dolls, and slumped over to the door. She /needed/ to find out what was going to happen next! Whoever it was would have to talk fast. She pulled open the door, careful to not scratch the handel, and looked down to find... Christina. Stupid little kitten. "What?" she asked, putting a newly-formed fist on her hip. Kat didn't really much notice, or /care/ for, her facial expressions. If it had been, say, Zepher, she would've forgiven her in a second for ruining her playtime, and listened to whatever she had to say. But this was /definately/ not Zepher.

"I wanted to . . . apologize," Christina said to Kat, nearly choking on the word. "I've been awful and nasty to you, and I thought you deserved an apology." Looking up at Kat with her best 'forgive me' face (although aided by her kitten-hood, her forgive-me face was still somewhat lacking, but it was her best) she said, "The truth is, I'm . . . jealous, of you. You see, you're so big and powerful, with those sharp claws of yours, your powerful paws, your deadly teeth. You could bend anyone to your will if you wanted! With the right threats, no one could refuse to obey you! That's why I was so mean to you, because I was /jealous/ of you. I wanted that kind of power for myself." She looked down, as if from shame, and said, "And I'm sorry. Jealousy is no excuse for my behavior." She looked up again, and waited to see Kat's reaction to all this before continuing; she had to make sure Kat would be receptive to what she had said so far before revealing her plan.

"Tch." Right. She was 'apologizing'. Awful and Nasty were only two words to describe the ickyness of Christina.
And yes, Kat very well did deserve an apology.
She accepted the apology, simply because it was instinct by now, but it didn't make things much better. Kids have a way with seeing past certain lies (Santa is so widely renoud, he MUST be true!), and it seemed like this one fit Kat's qualifications. But before Kat could snarl and close the door on her face, and see if Brad really did like Sheila, the kitten had said something. Something ingenious. With a look of disbelief that the evil thing would say that she was jealous, Kat couldn't help but nod-- Her claws could rip up quite alot, same goes with her teeth. Not only was she powerful-she was silent. A great asset, she had learned, when pouncing on random squirrels to play Dollie with.
"But I don't like threats alot," Kat said, confused. Sure, she could play-threat, but bending the wills of people were strictly for prey, and Adrian. And maybe to mess with someone new at the house for a minute. Christina was putting it too oddly, like she thought Kat was quite violent enough to threaten anybody to get what she wants. But that would be mean.
Kitty Kat couldn't figure out if this was a completely good thing. The kitten didn't have a very convincing face on, and had made her sound alot like a bad guy. But she had apologized, said she was jealous. And the reasons why were incredibly true, incredibly flattering. "Well, uh, good." At least she was willing to listen, now.
ooc; Well, at least we know she doesn't consider Adrian as prey -sweatdrop-
(sorry, is bad)

"Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you would ever want or need to threaten anyone," Christina said quickly. But then she looked thoughtful for a moment or two. "Hmm. On second thought, why /shouldn't/ people be made to respect your power?" The kitten splice brought her hand to her chin in thought. "I don't mean to say that you should be mean to people, but . . . when you're good at something, you should be allowed to gain an advantage over those who aren't. You know what I mean? Like . . . if you were good at a game, do you think you should have to hold back so that the people who weren't good at that game could beat you?" The kitten splice smiled as she answered her own question. "No, you shouldn't. You should be able to use your natural gifts however you like."

Oooh. That made sense. Alot more than the the violence theory.
"But Adrian always be's scared when I bother him," she said, thinking out loud. "Does that count as respect?" He usually acted exactly as she wanted him to, cringing and shaking, all that jazz. But he never actually talks good about her... Maybe that was the point Christina was trying to make. Maybe she was right-- In ways, Kat was much better and stronger than him, shouldn't he make it a point not to call her things like Nasty Kitty? It didn't really hurt her feelings, she /was/ torturing him and all... But the kitten was at least making some sense.
Kat nodded a bit, curling her tail around her waist. Surely that wasn't all she had to say.
ooc; Sorry, just wanted to get the post over with no matter how short and bad it is =P

"Fear and respect are fundamentally the same," Christina pointed out. "Fear is just what people call it when they want to make it sound /bad./" In her mind, the scientist was glad that her message was getting through to Kat, but she knew better than to show too big a smile. "Hmm, Adrian, you say?" Christina wondered, pausing and pretending to think for a moment. "That name sounds vaguely familiar. Oh yes, wasn't he the bird splice from the living room?" The scientist nodded thoughtfully, then said, "It's only natural that he should respect you. He's a /bird/. You're a /cat/. You should be offended if he /didn't/ pay you your due respect."

"But... Respect is, like..." Drat. What was the definition of respect? "...Not fear." Her conifdence dropped. That was pretty pathetic. "Fear is being scared. I don't think that's the same as respect." She chewed on a claw, confused. Why couldn't the kitty shut up and let her get back to her Barbie buisness? Her brain wouldn't hurt so bad. "Bird's outside don't respect me, they just run, um, fly away." And God knows she could fly after them, if the sight of a gaint flying tiger was a normal thing. But there was a difference between birds and Adrian. Adrian was part human, like herself, and therefore she very well couldn't eat him. Or chew on him. Good golly goodness, Christina was confusing. "I'm not a real cat, I'm only part cat, dummy. And he's only part bird. I'm talking to you right now, right?"

Christina realized she had made a mistake. Some of Christina's own scientist mindset had shown through when she voiced the idea that Kat and Adrian were just animals. And Kat had spotted the error. Christina gritted her teeth to prevent an angry retort, and thought quickly to cover herself. "Of course we're all human," she said, trying to sound casual. "But we're more than that, too." She left it at that.
D**n. This kid was turning out to be a lot smarter than Christina had banked on. Not to mention a lot more innocent-minded. Christina, however, kept her exasperation to herself. "Alright, fear and respect aren't quite the same, but they're a lot alike. You can't respect someone without being at least a little intimidated by them, and you can't be afraid unless you admit that what you're afraid of is superior to you."
She knew she would need to think of an excuse to cut off the conversation soon. She had said all that she needed to say, and she wanted to leave Kat to think it over and come to her own conclusions. Besides that, she couldn't afford to make any more slips, or Kat might figure out what Christina was up to.
