(feel free to let this sit for a while, if need be. I just thought I should go ahead and get it posted, since I don't know when the media plot is going to happen, and this had to happen before that does.)
Julian and Tyler were playing basketball in a fenced-in basketball court with white lines drawn on asphault and chain-link hoops, a fairly good distance (maybe ten blocks or so) away from the House. Tyler was winning, mostly because whenever he started losing, he became hard-headedly determined to show Julian that just because the other boy was older, that didn't mean he was better at basketball. And when he got determined enough, he could win. Or maybe Julian was backing off a little bit, because he knew that letting Tyler win would make him feel good. And Julian didn't even mind that Tyler would rub it in his face as soon as the game was over, which Julian knew he would.
They paused in their game as they saw a large van pull up just outside the fence of the basketball court. Julian, who had the ball, threw it toward the wall to get it out of the way, and both boys went up to the fence to see what was going on. They both backed away when they saw who got out of the van; men in white lab coats. Neither of them immediately remembered what the House residents said about scientists, but there was definitely something wrong with these people. The way they moved, the expressions on their faces; like hunters checking their trap and finding a fox. The scientists opened the gate, and moved fast enough that they were able to corner Tyler. Julian was in a more open area, so he was harder to corner; he ran from the scientists, and managed to get to the other gate and get out before the scientists could get to him. As he ran, he chanced a look over his shoulder to see Tyler shot with a tranquilizer gun, and hear just a snippet of conversation; one of the scientists was patting another on the back as Tyler fell unconscious, and Julian heard him say, "-great addition to Camp Sunshine, don't you think?"
Julian suddenly remembered what he had heard about scientists, and he immediately knew where to go for help. He made a beeline for the old victorian house, running the entire way, and when he finally got there, he threw open the door without knocking, and panted, "Tyler . . . they got Tyler . . . scientists . . . they got Tyler." He didn't really care if anyone was there in the living room to hear him or not; if they were, they heard him, and if not, he would go find them.

(I sorta kinda lied, too. This has been sitting for too long, and if nobody decides to be in the living room, I'm going to have Julian go to a random room on the girls' floor. Consider this your two days' notice. Or maybe one day, if I get impatient.)

Bea was in the living room when Julian started pounding on the door. She looked up from where she was sitting on the floor with a book she'd found lying around, momentarily petrified. What was going on? Who was that? Why would it be that much of an emergency?
What if the House had been found? Obviously, there were several scientists who knew of it - Bea was spying for one, and was supposed to be looking out for other spys - but what if someone had decided to do something with that knowledge? Could she get away? What if she couldn't? Would there be any way she could get word to Dr. Marino in time?
Bea looked up at Julian, almost as panicked as he was. Her nose twitched in a very rat-like way, and she raised on paw-like hand to brush hair from her eyes. "Where? And what do you know about scientists?" she hissed.

"I think they said something about Camp Sunshine," Julian said, still panting, in response to the 'where?' question. But then he heard the hiss in Bea's voice in her second question, and angrily shot back, "What do you care what I know about scientists?" How dare this girl be suspicious of him at a time like this! Tyler was in danger, and she was just standing there, demanding an explanation for something that didn't even matter! But, even while panicking, Julian realized that starting an argument would not get Tyler saved any faster, so he quickly added, "Look, I only know what the people in this place have told me. That's why I came here for help! Do you know where I could find someone who could help me rescue my friend?"
Throughout this time, Julian had too much adrenaline in him to even notice anything strange about Bea's appearance. But he was finally calming down just enough to actually look at her, and notice that her ears were way bigger than they ought to be. And were those whiskers? He totally missed the tail (if it was showing), because even now he was only looking at her face. He was a bit weirded out by the ears (keep in mind that he's only ever seen experiments one other time), and he unthinkingly let his face show his slight squeamishness. It didn't help him that he was already mad at Bea for demanding an explanation for how he knew about the scientists at a time like this.

"I - I - I dunno," she stuttered. "There might be someone here from Sunshine... I'm not sure. I haven't exactly met everyone yet. If there isn't, I don't know what we can do. Trying to break into a lab we know nothing about would be suicidal..." She paused, realizing this really wasn't helpful. He already seemed annoyed with her; telling him they might not be able to save his friend would probably not be a great idea.
"We can check, though," she continued. "There's people here from all over the place. There's bound to be someone who'll know something..."

"Okay, well, where is everyone?" Julian asked, still sounding very impatient, although he was calming down at least a little.
Something that Bea said made him pause for a second. Truth be told, the idea of breaking into a lab had never even crossed his mind. He had thought that once the scientists had Tyler in their base of operations, it would be too late. Instead, Julian had been hoping to cut them off before they got there. But breaking into the lab . . . was that possible? Best not to take chances. "I was hoping we wouldn't have to break in to get him out. If we hurry enough, we can maybe get to them before they get to the lab. Somehow." He was talking fast, trying to say what he needed to before any more time passed. He slowed down a little towards the end of his comments as he realized that the scientists had had a van. Sh!t. How were they supposed to race a vehicle and win? "Is there anyone here who can keep up with a van?" he added, talking quickly again.

"I don't know," Bea repeated. "They're probably upstairs, if they're around at all. People kind of come and go around here." She paused, and then shut her eyes tight, concentrating. Bea hadn't done this in months; it hadn't seemed necessary. But now, she needed to get people's attention, and her mental voice was at least as loud as her actual voice. Anyone with any sensitivity to telepathy would hear her. At least, she hoped they would.
There's a guy here, says his friend was captured by scientists! Is anyone here? Anyone? Emergency! We've got a capture! Anyone? She was loosing her concentration, and the message started to break down, to become less of words and more of concepts. Danger! Help! Fear, fire, foes! She lost it completely then, and added a verbal "Anyone home? We've got a capture!" for good measure.
"If there's anyone around, that should have gotten through," she said, turning back to Julian. "And about your second question, I don't know. Maybe some of the flying ones could. The question would be if they'd go out in broad daylight."

As if on cue, Bounding down the stairs two at a time, came Alan. The whole way down, he was practically shouting, "Wha? Who? Whe-" THUD. "Ow.." He moaned, picking himself up from the floor after hitting it face first . Note to self, Do not run and trip down stairs. Picking himself up, he saw Bea, "Ok, so who's captured now?"
Then he saw Julian. l)amn. Holding his nose, "And who are you?" he said, turning to Julian with a small frown. He let go of his nose and stood up awkwardly, hoping his nose wasn't going to start bleeding.

Julian couldn't figure out at first why Bea was closing her eyes. He was nervous, thinking maybe she was getting a headache or something, but he didn't say anything. Julian felt a wisp of something in his mind, but it was mostly blocked out by all the other things that were going through his head right now. When Bea said, 'That should have gotten through,' he got the impression that maybe she had been . . . what? Communicating telepathically? That must be it.
Julian practically jumped out of his skin when he heard the THUD. He turned to see where the noise had come from, and his relief at seeing someone with wings cancelled out any weirded-out-ness he might have otherwise felt upon seeing Alan. "I'm Julian," he informed Alan. "My friend Tyler was captured. By scientists. Would you be willing to help rescue him?" he said, a definite note of hopefulness in his last question.

"Alan, and sure." He responded, beginning to wipe of his jeans. He stiffened as he heard Julian's last comment about Tyler. He suddenly remembered something about the names. A while ago, one of the residents had told him about the two. Two teens, one dared to go into the House by a companion, apparently the one in front of him. Breaking out of his reverie, he started with Julian. "Ok, How long ago was he captured? What were the Scientist driving? Where were they headed?" Finishing his barrage of questions, he froze.
He thought back on what he had learned of the two, and started mumbling to himself. "So, he was here, and now they have him. He knows where the House is, and he's captured..." His eyes widened in shock. Now loudly, "He.. He's going t-to tell them.." Alan suddenly jumped up and ran to wards the door, cursing the air. "Ah fvck!" He stopped right before the door, taking a breath. "Warn the others," Alan said to no one in particular before reaching for the door handle.

Bea nodded, and ran up the stairs. She rushed up and down the second floor hallway, banging on doors as she went past. "Anyone here? Please, if you're here, we need help!" she yelled. "A kid's been captured, and he's been here, and Alan's going after him!" She waited a split second, then started up to the third floor to give a repeat performance.

"Five, maybe ten minutes ago. Steel gray armored van, says Biotech on the side in green letters. Ten blocks from here, at the basketball court, and they were heading west from there, I think," Julian answered Alan's barrage of questions almost as quickly as they were asked.
Julian shook his head. "No. He gave his word he'd never tell. We both did. He won't tell those b*st*rds anything, don't worry." Julian was calmed down, now that everyone was helping him.
Deltar was the only one (of my characters) who responded to Bea's summons. Echo was at work, Dakota was out and about somewhere, and of course Christina had to stop herself from laughing out loud at the thought of going off to rescue someone from a lab. She was just going to pretend she wasn't here. But Deltar came downstairs just after he had heard the message. "How may I assist this endeavor?" he asked.
Julian's eyes widened when he saw Deltar. But he forced himself to stay as calm as he possibly could, or at the very least to look calm. But . . . whoa, that just wasn't right. What was this thing?

Standing at the door, Alan looked at Julian, nodding at each answer. "Good, good, should be easy enough to track down.." He turned back to wards the door, but again stopped as he heard Julian's last comment. Alan slowly turned and walked to him, a serious look on his face. " If you knew the horrors that we withstood in those labs, the things that we saw, the pain that we felt as our minds and bodies changed, you wouldn't say that. Give them a while, almost anyone would rat us out for a taste of freedom, a chance away from the he|| of those places."
Alan closed his eyes and heavily sighed. He opened them to see the confused expression on Julian's face. Alan looked where he faced, and explained, "Thats Deltar, he.. thinks he's an alien. He's some early dinosaur or something.." Now to Deltar, "Not unless you can keep up with a.. human vehicle" He said, trying to say it in a way he could understand. Walking back to his spot in front of the door, "Either way, I'll be back as soon as I can.. We need to get him back," That was the last thing he said as he opened the door, spread his wings, and flew off in the direction of the van. He left, regardless of the day, the risks. 'I'm going to protect my home..' Alan thought as he left it behind him.

Julian said nothing as Alan gave him his speech. He felt the impatience rising up in him again, thinking to himself that now was not the time for grandiose speeches about pain and freedom. But he just stood, and willed Alan to realize the importance of his own words, and go find Tyler before they came true.
Deltar twisted his mouth into an angry frown at Alan's statement that he only /thought/ he was an alien. The nerve of him. He knew perfectly well what he was. And . . . what did the boy just call him? A dinosaur? Why did that word-
His thoughts were cut off as a memory resurfaced from his time at the lab; after he became Deltar, but before his escape . . .
"You aren't an alien. You're just a sad little insane genetic mutant, spliced with a creature that died out a long time ago," a man in a midnight blue uniform jeered.
"Yep, died a /long/ time ago. Just like his family, eh?" another man said, turning so that he was talking to the first man. Both of them enjoyed a hearty laugh.
"No. Is not true," Deltar moaned.
"Yep, I'm afraid it's true. Your family's gone like the dinosaur you've become." There was more laughter at the play on words.
"No! Stop say that!" Deltar said, his grasp on language weakening as the emotions within him built up to their breaking point. His pitiful plea was met only with more, viciously cruel laughter.
The flashback was over. Deltar's lip twitched into an angry sneer as he looked at Alan, baring his teeth. "You know nothing!" he yelled, looking like he would have attacked Alan if he had had the chance. But it was too late. The other boy was already in the air.
Julian merely stared, still wide-eyed, at the alien's sudden transition from friendly to hostile. He readied himself to spring into action should Deltar try to attack Alan. The last thing he wanted was for a fight to break out right when Alan was going to help rescue Tyler. But it turned out that he didn't need to do anything; Alan was out of reach of the psychotic alien.
The driver of the van hadn't gotten very far. In fact, they had been driving somewhat towards the House at first, since the basketball court was to the northeast, and they were driving west. But now they were past it, and driving away again. In any case, the scientist in the passenger seat noticed a figure in the rearview mirror. It was much too far away to make out, but it was in the air, and it certainly looked too big to be a bird.
"Hey. You might want to slow down a little," the scientist said to the one who was driving. He wasn't worried about anything stopping them, and he wanted to see what it was that was following them.
"You know we're on a schedule, Rob," the driver said. "We already got slowed down picking up the one kid two stops ago." He looked into the rearview mirror, out of curiousity, and he too spotted the airborne figure. "Huh," he said simply, but kept driving full speed.

Alan scoffed as soon as he was out of earshot from the shouting Deltar. It seemed people had grown even more strange then before his earlier departure of the House. So now Deltar is ready to murder him, and some teen is looking for their help. He contemplated these thoughts as he circled in the sky, looking for the van. He flew higher up, hoping to get a better view while making others below view him as a very large bird. Alan's pupils grew and shrank very slightly as his view magnified several times, searching for his prey.
Within minutes, he found and focused on the armored van, several miles to the west. "Here we go.." he said to himself, starting off in the direction of the scientist's car. Moment's later, Alan circled high above the vehicle, much like a vulture circling a dying animal. He seriously hoped that Julian was telling the truth as he slowly descended. He thought back on Julian's explanation, trying to see anything that might make him untrustworthy. As Alan thought of the risks of the van being a trap in waiting, he continued to descend to wards the van. He slowly came out with the deduction that the rescue attempt most likely wasn't bait for a trap.
Finishing that, He looked around, checking for any occupied cars or sidewalks. Seeing that none were nearby, Alan folded his wings flat against his body, falling face first to wards the vehicle. As he was falling, thoughts and emotions ran through his head. Fear, excitement, would he rescue Tyler, would he be captured, would he be killed?? The feelings stopped as the roof of the van rushed up to greet him. Alan grunted in pain as the joints in his wings popped as he unfurled them to slow his fall. He landed with a thud on top of the moving vehicle, his talons scratching the roof, almost falling off the top of it. He crouched, prepared to make a motion if something came after him.

Dahlia was softly humming to herself, enjoying the feeling of the hot sting of water pelting against her bare skin. She'd been in the shower for about ten minutes, and was currently busy washing the shampoo from her hair. She loved taking scalding hot showers. They just felt so good! But her relaxed reverie was shattered like a pane of glass as a mental shout caught her attention.
Emergency? Capture? Dahlia twisted the shower off and jumped out, ignoring the large mess that she was making, water going everywhere. Grabbing a white towel from the towel rack, she quickly wrapped it around herself, tucking it securely in the top to ensure that it wouldn't fall off of her small frame. As she was doing this, the same voice she'd heard earlier repeated its' pleas, but this time she was right outside in the hall. The voice faded away, up the stairs, and Dahlia flung the door open, stepping out into the hallway and racing downstairs.
"Someone's been captured? What's going on?" Her voice was frantic, her gaze flickered between Deltar and alternately Julian. "What's going on?" She repeated herself, needing an explanation quickly.

(Meh, I feel like getting this thread resolved (even though we already know that Tyler has to be captured). Or, failing that, at least being the last one to post on it. Either way, I win. ;D)
Deltar just watched, top pair of arms crossed, as he saw Alan fly away. Even as reason began to come back to him, he was still a little miffed at the implication that he didn't know what he was. But at least he no longer wanted to kill Alan.
Julian immediately turned his attention to Dahlia, seeming to forget all about Deltar and his earlier episode, and answered the towel-clad girl's questions. "Tyler, a friend of mine. Neither of us live here, but we've been here before, and some are worried that Tyler might give away the location of this place." A slight emphasis was placed on the word 'some,' referring to Alan. "I . . I was hoping some people here would be willing to help get him back. One guy already went out to follow their truck. Wings, talons . . I think he said his name was Alan."
"Whoa!" the driver of the truck exclaimed as something heavy landed on top of the vehicle. "What the hell was that?!" The passenger replied, "I dunno, I can't see it in the mirror. What should we do about it?" Rob, the passenger, had a feeling it was the same bird thing as he had seen earlier, but he had taken his eyes off of whatever that had been, and hadn't seen it when Alan had come diving down. "Should we stop? It might've damaged the truck," Rob said worriedly. The driver thought it over for a minute, then put on the breaks and pulled off to the side of the road. "Better to stop and check it out now than be forced to stop later, I s'pose."
Rob was out of the car first, bringing along his tranquilizer gun; just in case what had caused the noise was the same odd bird he'd seen before. The driver said, "Good idea," and grabbed his tranquilizer, as well. "If it's alive, it's probably injured already," Rob said, "We'll probably need to get up there to check it out. Gimme a boost, will ya?" The driver laced his fingers together, his hands making a place for Rob to put his foot. Rob stepped on it, the driver heaved, and Rob, holding onto the top of the truck with just his arms, saw what had landed on its roof. "Good God, it's an experiment!"

OoC: And you win... -Digs through lunch bag- A... Cookie!!!! And my first in character post in months!!
Bic: In Alan's situation, he wasn't going to be saving anyone anytime soon, which would apparently be himself fairly soon. As he be, The bird-man lay atop the vehicles roof, disoriented with a dash of pain mixed in. That disorientation and confusion? That comes with falling several hundred feet, landing suddenly, stopping atop a moving vehicle extremely fast, and the connection of face and metal. This confusion, luckily, did not hide the fact that there were several men coming at him from below his position. 'Okay, Calm down, get up and try to get away. Can't save anyone if your captured and frantic,' were the thoughts running through Alan's head as he struggled to pull himself together and run. This is what an extremely scared Alan screams to himself as he notices the small tranq' gun Rob carries as his head appears over the edge; Ah sh|t!! Run!! flee!! Forget Tyler, Your not getting captured again!!
Ignoring the searing pain shooting through both leg and wing, the feathered resident managed to jump off the side of the vehicle and glide a small distance away from the threat, he already was in no condition to fight back. He needed to lose them before he made his way to safety in the House, He would rather not lead more to his friends. Dodging into many alleyways and yards, trying to manage being unseen, Alan attempted to find a safer route home, without further damaging his sprained wings. Turning into another empty ally to where he believed he could go unnoticed, he jumped onto a nearby building, climbing to the top. Finding the direction of the house, he bit his lip and started into a run. Making his lip bleed, he jumped as high as he could and threw his wings open, forcing one more small flight to wards the house.
The searing pain in his back was unbearable, he wasn't even sure if he had been hit by any darts or not. "Almost there.." The winged teen mumbled in mid-air. A couple feet from the door, his wings gave out, and he fell into the street. He stumbled hopefully unseen the rest of the way, banging on the door as he approached. "Note to self, Do not try to be the hero.." He said as he stretched his sore muscles and supported himself against his knees.

Rob stared at Alan for a good few seconds, taking in what he was seeing. An escaped experiment that had survived in the outside world? Was it possible? Apparently so.
"An experiment?! Shoot it, you fool!" the driver yelled at him from below. Rob's fumbling hands finally found the trigger of his gun and fired a tranquilizer dart at the bird experiment, but by then Alan was already gliding away, and the dart flew harmlessly past him.
"You idiot!" the driver yelled, dropping Rob so that he could run after the experiment himself; it was easy to tell that the driver was the more athletic of the two. Rob sprawled on the ground from the impact, but the driver paid him no attention. He held his tranquilizer at the ready as he took off, sprinting down alleyways and careening around corners, shooting whenever he saw a flash of feathers. But after a while he realized he was chasing nothing; he had lost his prey. Cursing under his breath, he turned around and started walking back toward the van.
Rob was waiting. He gave the driver a sour look for dropping him, and the driver scowled right back. Both of them in a bad mood, but neither wanting to waste any more time, they got back in the van and continued on their way.
