Name: Matthew Brassington
Age: 19 (Born April 2nd, 1988)
Gender: Arguable (born male)
Matt is difficult to understand, and finds it difficult to understand himself sometimes, especially when he sees how the people he passes on the street every day live. Matthew has always been odd. He was one of a small number of people born in a lab, but not planned as an experiment. His mother was a planned experiment whose development was halted when she was found to be pregnant, and his father was apparently one of the scientists whose identity was erased as soon as he was fired from his position. Matt grew up without his mother, having been separated from her as soon as he was born. His mother was returned to the experiment block she came from, and Matt was transferred to a special area of the lab which was practicing in an experimental process which allowed its experiments to eventually go free and live in the world beyond the lab.
Matthew grew up in an almost perfectly normal atmosphere. He was transferred to the home of one of the scientists, and was legally given the surname "Brassington." His adoptive father worked at the lab during the day, while his mother owned a bookstore in town about forty-five minutes away from their house and the lab. Matt was homeschooled with his two other siblings, Kyle and Jessica, and kept up with his studies fairly well. He had friends in the neighborhood and went into town to hang out on a regular basis. He played soccer on the city team, and also enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, and occasionally surfing. His favorite subject was always science, particularly paleontology and zoology. However, there was one major way in which Matthew differed from his siblings. Throughout his life, he was given occasional treatments of various kinds. Many of them were injections, but he was also exposed to radiation more than once, and some of the treatments involved surgeries. Over the course of thirteen years or so, Matt's entire body was altered, but not visibly.
His experiment was the first of its kind, and was labeled a success during one of the surgeries. They put Matt under anaesthetic and began an electronic probing of his brain, causing various physical features to slowly begin to change. He was kept under anaesthesia for a couple hours, during which time his features gradually returned to normal. When he woke up, he was told about his "new" ability, and for the next few years was taught how to use it. The actual training progressed slowly, and after only a few weeks Matt decided to experiment on his own. He went far beyond what they thought possible, changing not only his facial features, skin color, and hair color and length, but also the texture of his skin, the shape of his limbs, and eventually even the size of his body. He was let out of the training program and put under supervision for another year, during which time Matthew discovered even more about his ability. He could not only change major physical features, but also physiology. He delved into studies of biology to visualize what he could change, and then actually tried it. A couple times, he had to be taken to the lab for emergency surgery when he changed something in a way he shouldn't have, but overall his own experimentation was a success. He even learned to change gender, and does it every now and then just for the fun of it. More recently, he began experimenting with animal shapes. This has been a success as well, and although he has not tried anything too big or too small, he can manage a sort of anthropomorphic form if he concentrates on it for a while. The only problem is that these changes are very gradual, and for big changes like that he needs a couple hours to pull it off correctly. Smaller changes he can do in a matter of seconds or minutes thanks to extensive practice.
Despite his status as an experiment, Matthew was given all the freedoms his siblings had. He knew that he had to keep his ability a secret, or else other labs would be after him and his family in order to find out their secret. He is considered a trusted experiment under supervision, which simply means that he is allowed to go where he wants, so long as he checks in with the family every now and then, and no less than once a month. After graduating from highschool, Matthew decided to move out and go to college at the University of Kentucky. He heard about The House from his father, whose lab knew about it but rarely had any escapees, and so cared little about it. Instead of paying to stay on campus or getting an apartment, Matt decided to stay there. This way, he can still experiment with his abilities without worrying about people freaking out too much if they see him. He didn't find out about the House until after he was halfway through his trip to college, however, so he came to the House with perhaps a little too much stuff. He had been planning on supplying a dorm room, and instead he now keeps a lot of his stuff in his car.

Thankfully, Matt has a stable form despite all the changes he can make his body go through. His natural form is perfectly normal in every way, with nothing visible to tell anyone that he is anything other than a perfectly average college student. He is 5' 8" tall, just average, and with a very slightly smaller than average build. He doesn't have a lot of physical strength, but he doesn't care. He can run very quickly when he wants to, and when he's not on foot his skill with a skateboard or bike can get him going even faster. He has, in the past, planned on getting tattoos, but he's never actually gotten around to it. Anyway, he can make just about any design he wants appear on his skin with a little concentration, so he doesn't need to have a needle repeatedly stuck into his skin. His body might well reject the ink in any case.
Matt is a relatively handsome young man, having features best described as "roguish," and often wearing a playful, even teasing grin. His skin is completely unmarked, having not a single freckle or birthmark or scar on it, and his expression shows his easygoing disposition. His eye color is naturally a light, creamy coffee-with-extra-cream sort of brown, but he changes those to suit his whims often. His hairstyles are the only thing about him that do not remain constant when he lets his body resume its normal shape. He changes his hair almost daily, since he is able to make it grow up to three or four inches every minute, and has become quite good at applying hair gel to make it stick up and out the way he wants it to. He can also make it any color he desires, so he has no need for any kind of hair coloring. He also changes his jewelry almost daily. He doesn't have to get piercings, instead just opening up holes in his ears, eyebrows, lips, nose, or wherever else he can think of to insert a ring or stud of some sort. He doesn't go overboard with this, however. One thing Matt knows is style, and he hates the way having a ton of metal hanging off your face looks.
What varies the most about Matt is perhaps his wardrobe. He has a wide variety of styles that he likes, and thanks to a series of scholarships from the University of Kentucky he has plenty of money left over from his college fund to use on it. One day he may wear simple jeans and a tee shirt, another day go for outrageous rave gear complete with glow bracelets and neon tank tops. Another day he may adopt a look of casual formality with button-up shirts and a loose tie, and still another day he may go for grunge wear or a beach-y sort of look. Other days, he may change his gender and wear female clothing instead. It really depends on his mood. He doesn't really have an extensive wardrobe, but he combines what he does have in ways that make new outfits from day to day.
(Note: The following is more so I can keep track of Matt's stuff than for anyone else to read. Feel free to skip this area, as it has little of any importance.)
Matthew brought few possessions to the House with him. There is his car, which is a relatively cheap Toyota Corolla Deluxe. It doesn't look like much, but at least it runs well. He brought a bag full of school books, a duffel bag of clothes, and another suitcase with some personal things in it, as well as some stuff he brought with him to keep him busy. This includes a laptop with a wireless connection card, a few computer games, his handheld Gameboy Advance SP (with a few games as well, of course), a few DVDs, a stuffed raccoon, a small bag in which he keeps a toothbrush and other such things, a plastic bowl, fork, and spoon, several cans of spaghetti-Os and some snack food, a couple rolls of quarters for the laundromat, a small table fan, alarm clock, a set of sheets and a blanket (and of course a pillow), a couple posters, his skateboard, and some medicine (Tylenol, Advil, Robitussin, etc; nothing prescription). His bike is strapped to the top of the car. The only other thing he brought was his birdcage and a travel carrier for his two blue-and-white parakeets, Jasper and Celia. He might not have brought all this had he known that he wouldn't be moving into a dorm, but he has all his stuff with him now, and it's a little late to be sending any of it back home.
