Name and what you would like to be called:[/U] My name, for all practical perposes in real life and online is Kat. Since the name is common, if one already exists, I’ll think of something else and complain about switching.
Experience in Roleplaying:[/U] Ohhh, deeeeaar, a lot. I guess, I started around four or five years ago. I’ve acted as a moderator and an administrator on a bunch of sites.
Gender:[/U] Well, I’m wearing lipstick.
Age:[/U] I just turned Eighteen.
Who brought you to this lovely place?:[/U] Boredom, I found the site on Invision Free, because I was desperate enough to look.
Contact (AIM/YIM/E-mail/etc.):[/U]
towards.imagintion@gmail.com
Favorite Genres:[/U] Fantasy, both modern and Medieval, heavily set in classical mythological canon, SCIENCE FICTION, and well developed plots.
Most Disliked Genres:[/U] Oh, fan-plays. I hate other people’s characters. I also dislike vampires quite a bit. Like—a lot a bit, unless they are done ABNORMALLY well.
If you don't get accepted the first time, will you try again?:[/U] Hmm, despite my self esteem issues online; I tend to shy away from regection, although not criticism, I will probably attempt a second time if I was declined. I feel that I am a fine roleplayer, good, even, and that I can easily keep up with “advanced” or “literate” individuals. In recent times, finding people of a similar skill level to me is difficult and aggravating, so the concept of someone else filtering people for me is pleasant.
Role Play Sample:[/U]
I will probably start a thread with this introduction if I am accepted; newly written because I lack any recent samples, and because I was—hideously bored and avoiding a paper on Wuthering Heights. My introductions do not always include so much movement and action, but I had a lot to say. Oh, and for reference, the character’s name is pronounced Nee-uv.
The high-pitched, electronic sound of a mutilated melody sliced through the gray and weary blanket of restful, although not deep, slumber encompassing the mind of Niamh Canty. The song finished before the woman even stirred, whining through a four-bar portion of “Au Claire de Lune,” which remained entirely unrecognizable by any person not formally acquainted with the telephone from which the din ensued. Before her hideous understanding of la langue de fraincais, was corrected, Niamh had thought the song to be about aquatic birds, but the name proved far more applicable to her life as a song of moonlight. In a manner, such light controlled Niamh’s life in intimate and uncontrollable ways, but the applicability of the song’s title, did not comfort the woman as she creaked into an upright position and allowed the white bed sheet to fall off of her body in waves of discarded, lustrous fabric. The phone did not give the song justice, anyway; Niamh only heard noise, and in a desperate and understandable attempt to silence the instrument of torture, Niamh threw her arm towards her night stand and fished lazily and without effort for the mechanical object. By the time the song, or the tiny portion of the piece of music, began to repeat, Niamh’s hand, featuring a set of fingers with stubby and ruined nails coated in a brown substance which shone sanguine in the streetlamp diluted moonlight, clutched the vibrating phone and flipped it open. The sound ceased, and for a second, Niamh’s sleep-hazed mind relished in the silence. Unfortunately, her body reacted automatically to the now-open phone, and she lifted the object to one pale, and rather smashed, ear.
The voice on the other side sounded formal and cold to Niamh’s steadily awakening conscious, and the contrast between the monotonous voice, the sharp, jarring tones of the cell-phone ring, and the wondrous and awesome peace of her initial slumber, felt obvious and alien to the exhausted woman. Fatigue damaged Niamh’s mental capacity, and every spoke word required laborious, arduous thought. Although she had spoken English for most of her life, almost all, the language sounded as foreign as the French song title of her cell-phone ring. She worked to force herself to avoid answering in her natal language, which had lived dormit inside of her collection of knowledge for a very long time, unused and dead.
“Yeah, I can be there.”
The woman muttered in an accented voice speaking of the northern providences of Ireland, Donegal, perhaps, or maybe somewhere even more isolated and lost to time.
