Noface said something in my other board that reminded me of this, and I didn't want to comment on it there for fear of starting a discussion and going off-topic.
Anyway, I've thought before about the idea of having more than one character share the same name. It would make logical sense, because real-life people don't go and get legal name-changes when they meet someone else who shares their name. And I think it could be kinda fun, maybe, to have other characters come up with ways to differentiate between people with the same name. Especially when they're experiments; I see some fun nickname-potential there.
So, basically, I just wanted to state that, just for the record, the names Dakota, Harold, Jordan, Christina, and Tonya are /not/ taken. Some of my rarer names, however (Echo, Deltar, Pipsqueak), might be. Depends on the circumstance, I guess. And in any case, don't name a character after mine just for the sake of having a character named after mine.

Sounds....Coolio. I like the idea, especially concidering that at my school, there are at least five other people woth my name.

I actually don't think it's a good idea.
Since roleplays are in third person, names are really important. It's really difficult to keep track of two characters by the same name. I know the accounts would be different, but imagine having both characters in the same thread. It would not be pleasant.
I say, for the sake of ease, let's not reuse names.

Oh. That's a good point. I was only thinking about it in terms of realism, and not from the point of view of the roleplayers. Oy, multiple names would be especially not-fun when there's a lot of characters in the same room (ie, the Halloween party) and it gets hard to keep track of who's who as it is.
So I might retract my earlier statement about the un-taken-ness of the names of my characters.
But, on the other hand, the sort of situation I'm thinking of with this is like Noface's; where the person has already been playing a character with a certain name for some time. In cases like that, it seems kind of unfair to ask one person to change the name of their character and not the other. It wasn't an issue in that case, because Noface changed Aerial's name, but I'm just saying that A) it wouldn't be fair if both people had wanted to keep the name and B) it's not very realistic for people to not use names because they're 'taken.'
Anyway, it probably will never be an issue, so we probably shouldn't even be worried about it. But hey, if it ever does become an issue, we'll have already discussed it, right?
