Hello! I'm Moody. Tobey told me about this place, and I can no longer resist this roleplay's siren call. ;D I have a character in development (see icon , but I'd like to ask some questions before I introduce her: 1) In what year is this storyline set in? 2) Does my character have to have lived in a "typical" lab, with cages and sadistic scientists and such? 3) Can my character acquire his/her abilities through his/her parents or grandparents if they were experiments? 4) Is time travel allowed? ;D (Don't worry, she'll only do it once. Scout's honor.) Thank you!

Wow... lot's of questions... well, in the order they were asked...
1) 2006. Timeflow in the game is approximately equal to realtime, although some skewing has to be allowed for in that incidents which would really only take a few hours take days to play out, due to the fact that the people involved may not be online at the same time.
2) By all means, no! Whatever background you want to give your character is fine, as long as you can find a way to fit them into the world of ATL.
3) Sure. In fact, we've already got at least one character who has several heretitary powers (although he's also a mockingbird splice, on top of that).
4) Will it mess with the history of anyone else's characters? If not, go for it! If so, it would be best to ask the owner of that character, first.
Hope that helps! Welcome to ATL!

Machete lady! As much as I love to chat, we shouldn't clutter up the Ask Zepher board. You probably ought to start a "Hello everyone I'm new" chat in the general boards.

I have a few more questions, specifically about the House itself: 1) Who cleans up around the House? Does anyone have assigned chores? Who fixes stuff when it's broken? Who goes grocery shopping? I'm assuming that most residents take care of themselves, of course, but what happens if, say, a toilet explodes? ;D 2) While reading through some of the old posts, I saw that some characters mention neighbors. What are these people like? Are they ex-experiments, too? If these issues are addressed in older posts, please let me know so I won't bother y'all with nit-picky questions.

I might be able to answer some of the questions.
1) I'm pretty sure Zepher does all the shopping (or, if other characters do, it was never mentioned). I don't think anything's ever been broken before, which, considering Kat lives in the House, greatly surprises me now that I actually think about it. And chores aren't really mentioned either, although I think that's a good idea. It would make it more realistic if everyone had some specific chore to do. Just like houseshifts here at Watkins. Zepher would have to be the one to bring it up, though, because let's face it; none of the other residents are going to say, "Hey, I want to do some chores! Can I, please?"
2) The neighbors don't factor into the roleplays much, because the people at the House tend to keep to themselves. But I'm pretty sure they aren't experiments; maybe one or two are, by random chance, but the majority would be regular people.

Kadraishi does some shopping. He has to wear make-up and gloves, though.
And he hates make up.

Buffy occasionally gets some stuff for herself-Yay for halfas!
Anywho...The House had been labeled abandoned by nearly all...I guess they just think it's that spooky haunted neighbor house, for all I know.Door-to-door special-neat-o-cleans-things-salesmen wouldn't know that.Buffy got caught up with one once, claimed that mommy was taking a shower ^-^'
Maybe when he told people that story, they'd think he was crazy and saw a ghost.Funny.Buffy /is/ a ghost.Heh.

Okay, now I came up with this AWESOME idea....But I want to know if its allowed...I think it is....But still asking. My new character is going to be able to shape-shift, but ONLY cats...(And the extinct species of cats, like saber-toothed tiger.)....It is okay?

I /tried/ to edit/delete my post....But I couldn't. So I'll just /add/ what I wanted!
Also I'm thinking she'll be able to like roar like a lion even when she is a common house-cat for instance...And her head will be able to /just/ change instead of her whole body and so on...
Oooooh! *edits*. Can she have...abnormal abilities for a cat-like-person. Like...she can stand on her hind 'paws' and there will be more when I can think of more.....
And she couldn't talk when she is in 'full animal form' (She dosn't have a /not/ animal form though....) And she remembered how to 'speak'. But when she does it still comes like a 'meow' or 'roar' at the end...Or something...

Okay, Kat has yet another character idea that she really, /really/ likes. (Before I even use one of the two I have, shaaaaaame. )
Would it be alright to have a character that is not just like a normal, unknown experiment, but rather someone people have heard of?
Like I was thinking that my new character would have lead some sort of very Spartacus-like rebellion in her lab, when she was younger, and have that story be almost elevated to a mythical proportion. (Like have most of the stuff said not be true, etc. )
I had a long paragraph about how her set of powers would allow her to rally a large group of people into a frenzy enough to rebel. Pretty much she was already politically minded and the kind of personality type to become a rabble rouser, and then was genetically altered so that she would be even better in that way. (I have exactly what her powers are going to be, and if you want to know, just ask? )
I just wanted to make sure that was alriiiight, if she was slightly…well-known.

That is a very cool idea; it would be interesting to have a "guest star" come to the House. Do you mind if I ask what her powers are?

Something I have dubbed Charisma, or basically to use and manipulate the weak-minded. (Kinda like the Jedi-mind-trick in Star Wars)
It works better if she is working with large groups too, because of way people are easily rallied in groups.
And of course people in a desperate situation will be easily attracted to the idea of making a better situation. (That sentence makes no sense.)
EDIT:Most of the time she has no control about when she is not using her powers. Like she can choose to use them, but most of the time she uses them without even knowing she is doing it at all.

Oh, I see. She seems interesting, if a little... ruthless?

Not really.
She has very low risk avoidance, and is compulsive and passionate.
And angry, very, very angry, which makes her even more intense.
Usually if she is actually using her powers she is doing it very unintentionally.
